About
Mannion Drilling are a private family-run company, with a history that dates back almost 100 years. Our Company Director, Jason Mannion, is a fourth-generation driller with over 30 years of drilling experience and knowledge.
As a family business passed on down through the generations the Cox-Mannion connection would be one of the longest surviving drilling families in Australia. It is now into the fourth generation with Jason Mannion. The next (and fifth) generation will probably end up catching the drilling bug too with Jason and Jacinta’s only son Mitchell visiting drill sites since he was five months old. It is obviously that he loves being out on sites with his dad, loves the great machinery and helping out in the middle of summer all over the Northwest, NSW. Jason is naturally a proud dad.
Charles Cox, born in 1888 was a driller first on the Darling Downs and then moving into northern NSW. He started drilling with steam-driven early model Southern Cross rigs almost 100 years ago. His son Mervyn (Snow) Cox followed him in his business, and this was then succeeded by his nephews George, Curly, and Neville Mannion. So this makes four generations of drillers, although there was a name change from Cox to Mannion.
